Summer Environmental Exchange in Siberia and the Sierra Nevada

 

EACH SUMMER,TBI UNITES INTERNATIONAL YOUNG ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERS TO:

  • Live, study, and work together on pertinent watershed issues at Lake Tahoe and Lake Baikal;

  • Explore connections between diverse topics in watershed management such as ecology, limnology, land-use planning, public policy, resource economics, and cultural preservation;

  • Gain hands-on experience with environmental agencies, organizations, and academic institutions at both lakes

  • Connect to an international watershed protection network!

    TBI invites applications from undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates, and others with a demonstrated interest in the environment and a background in a relevant field such as:

    • Russian studies
    • Environmental studies
    • Geography
    • Resource economics
    • sociology
    • environmental engineering
    • political science
    • physical or life sciences
    • restoration work, or environmental activism.

     

    Dates: Approximately 10 weeks mid-June to late-August 2006.

    Cost: $1950 covers travel to/from Tahoe and Baikal, all food, lodging and program expenses.

    Financial aid and/or academic credit may be available.
