Baunt Thermal Source - Big Hapton Mountain Plateau - Gate Threshold (Upper Tsipa River)

 

 

1. Trail name: "Baunt Thermal Source - Big Hapton Mountain Plateau - Gate Threshold (Upper Tsipa River)"

2. Trail extent: 17.5km

3. Trail beginning and end points: Trail beginning - Baunt Sanatorium (Hot Key settlement), further the trail goes to the Big Hapton Mountain Plateau (2285m), down from the plateau to the Gate Threshold on the Upper Tsipa River, and exits to Baunt Sanatorium.

4. Trail purpose, noting level of difficulty: Combined pedestrian-mountain route with a high level of difficulty; it is intended prepared and experienced tourists.

5. Presence of obstacles on the trail:  Presence of abrupt slopes more than 20% grade, on the top part of the mountain rise; on descent from the plateau, on the western crest, the third penalty - danger of stone movement and lack of directions for movement. On a the trail site "The Gate Threshold - Baunt Sanatorium" - fine streams, crude sites.

6. Level of trail construction (what exists on the trail, what kinds of structures, resting places, etc): On the first 500m on the rise of Big Xapton Mountain Plateau, there is a viewing platform with a canopy, benches, and a garbage container. The track is completely cleared away at sites "Baunt Sanatorium - Big Xapton Mountain Plateau " in the extent of 6.5 km, and on the lower site in the extent of 3.5 km. On a route, there are three rest areas with fire pits.

7.    Trail information (informational boards and signs, markings):  The trail is marked by red paint on trees along the trail at site "Baunt Sanatorium - Big Hapton Mountain Plateau" and on the lower site from Gate Threshold to that of Baunt Sanitorium. On deforested sites of the trail, stone rounds are established. On the trail, wooden directional markers indicating movement are established.

8. How to reach the beginning of the trail, how to leave from the end of the trail: It is possible to reach the beginning of the trail by vehicle transport.  From Ulan Ude, daily trip-marshrutkas run from Ulan-Ude to the Bardarin regional center (597km; fare, with luggage: 1200 rubles). From Bardarin to Hot Key (120km), it is possible to reach the settlement on vehicle transport on the highly accessible Bauntovkii Central Regional Hospital, making schedule trips once a week (fare, 250-300 rubles) or hire a car from Bardarin. To leave from the Hot Key settlement, it is possible on vehicle transport (Central Regional Hospital) or on hired transport. Legth of passage - From one to about three days, depending on the tourists' purpose and the groups' level of preparation.

9. Specifics for trail visitors (for national parks and reserves), special rules of behavior on the trail: The trail passes through the Northern Bauntovskii territory to a taiga with vulnerable ecosystems, whose restoration takes a long time. When on the trail, it is necessary to observe fire prevention rules. It is forbidden to leave trash on the trail, cut down trees or bushes, hunt animals or birds, or gather native plant species.
